Joel Bennett is a former First Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Galveston County. He spent fifteen years perfecting his skills in trial, case evaluation, and analyzing the law. He has vast experience in determining the legality of initial detentions, arrests, and search/arrest warrants. Police officers and attorneys frequently ask Joel for advice on the law and how to proceed on cases. Joel has been hand picked to take on some of the most serious and high profile cases throughout his tenure at the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney's Office. In addition to being First Assistant, he has also worked in the Juvenile, Felony, and the Appellate Divisions of the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney's Office. He has handled juvenile matters ranging from skipping school to murder. He has written over 100 appellate briefs. The appellate briefs involved Constitutional issues, evidential matters at trial, sufficiency of the evidence, sufficiency of search and arrest warrants, and application of criminal statutes. Joel will bring the same dedication and hard work to your case; whether you are charged with or under investigation for assault, theft, drug charges, driving while intoxicated, fraud, juvenile cases, or any other felony or misdemeanor offense. At Sears, Bennett & Gerdes, LLP, our primary areas of practice are Galveston County, Fort Bend County, and Harris County. We are certainly willing to travel to other locations to help you with your individual case. We are dedicated to protecting your rights.
